Elizabeth Speck has over 25 years of experience as a manager, leader, trainer and facilitator. The focus of her work as a consultant has been to help individuals create powerful, effective work teams that are energized by their work together, committed to accomplishing shared goals, and equipped with the skills needed to stay in action in the face of ongoing challenges. Before beginning her work as a consultant in 2000, Beth spent over 24 years in health care, both as a clinician and manager. She graduated from the University of Illinois as an occupational therapist and worked with physically handicapped individuals. Her work involved assessing the strengths and challenges of the individual and their environment, of understanding their desired goals, and of helping the individual learn new skills, utilize resources, and adapt and develop their ability to accomplish the results they sought. In her work, Beth developed the ability to successfully work with a wide range of individuals, programs and systems. Beth’s work with clients has continued to build on some of the skills learned early in her career, particularly in taking a strength-based approach and in engaging others in learning new skills to realize desired outcomes. She has worked with leaders and teams in healthcare, government, higher education, and manufacturing and on a variety of successful projects including implementing new software systems, work re-design, implementing process improvement strategies, developing and implementing strategic plans, creating new business, establishing key market partnerships, improving customer satisfaction with staff involvement, creating training programs, and improving interdepartmental communication and relationships. Beth has an MBA from the University of Chicago and additional training and work in systems theory and integral development theory and application. She is certified in Integral Assessment. Beth is also an experienced and entertaining speaker and trainer, having presented both locally and nationally on topics related to effective team and leadership performance. In her community, Beth serves as a board member for Rosehedge, a housing program for people living with HIV/AIDS. Beth lives in Seattle, Washington with her husband Eric and son John. She enjoys music, sports, old movies, writing, reading and being with family. |
