"Thanks so much for the opportunity to spend a day at your training retreat with two of your GTC cohorts. Your approach to individual and group integral and transformative training is uniquely effective in my experience. I was particularly impressed with the integral evaluations that student teams offer local non-profit groups as they are mentored by faculty. It was a privilege for me to offer a teaching session to your remarkable students and faculty."

John has worked for the creation of community flourishing and transformation for the past 25 years. He directed the United States Healthy Community Coalition, and chaired a project to create a global action network of over 7,000 health community initiatives. He has worked for many years on developing an integral approach to community integration and flourishing. He was a founding member of the Integral Institute, a think tank located in Denver, Colorado and founding member of its Politics Center. He founded and directs the Salt Lake Center for Engaging Community in order to model and mentor best practices in integral community integration and transformation in a global environment.

John was one of the first individuals certified by Genpo Roshi to facilitate the “big mind process”, which has been referred to as the most significant development in Buddhism in 200 years. The big mind process is a facilitated group meditation which enables virtually anyone to receive a “kensho” experience or taste of the ultimate “non-dual” state defined particularly in the eastern traditions as a breakthrough to enlightened awareness.

By discovering a potential mandala of transformation at every energetic polarity, John has developed an integral and tantric approach to the Big Mind Process which is unique. This practice works with polar energies in an ascending practice and archetypal polarities of descending manifestations of Spirit, all in the context of five repeating themes. The practice is brought to fruition by exploring the implications of internal and partnering tantra resulting from the embrace of both the absolute and the relative, and the masculine and the feminine divine.

John is a founding teacher at the Integral Spiritual Center.
