9-week Virtual Learning Experience

Emergent Leadership: Engaging the Future from Awakened Wholeness takes you into a deep exploration of what it means to be conscious and whole as a human, living in times of great disruption. These times challenge us individually and collectively in our development and engagement with the world around us. We are called to enact and embody deeper capacities to care for each other and the planet, while realizing and embracing our innate wholeness. With these capacities, we can serve the emergence that is possible in our lives, communities, and in the world.

  • Become more self accepting and present, agile, and resilient in the midst of ambiguity, complexity, conflict, and shadow.

  • Reveal yourself more authentically, as you identify and release barriers to connection and intimacy.

  • Discover and cultivate capacities for fostering emergence and collective intelligence.

  • Find a deeper place in your own natural, evolutionary, unfolding development.

  • Explore the relationship between healing trauma and our capacity to be free and creative as individuals and collectives.

  • Find a deeper acceptance of what is and the commitment to engage in the emergence of a more true, beautiful, and just future.

  • Express the play and creativity at the heart of our freedom.

Program Structure

Emergent Leadership takes place over 9 weeks, online. The core of the program consists of weekly 2-hour calls, during which we will engage with learning, practice, reflection, and coaching supported by the core faculty group. In addition to the practice calls, you will receive weekly course materials that include informational videos, dialogs, and practices, presenting the ideas and distinctions we will work with that week. Taking time to absorb the teaching video allows the ideas to become integrated and more readily accessible for the experiential practice calls. In addition, during the program you will be supported by an online community space where you are invited to connect with other participants and faculty.

Key Elements

  • Practice field - At the outset, you will choose 1-2 areas of practice to engage with throughout the program: a personal or professional issue, relationship, project, or challenge with which you can engage with the teaching and practices.

  • We will come together weekly via Zoom for an intensive practice session to work with that week’s learning focus. Two call times are offered so you can choose a call that will work for you for the whole series.

  • Learning content - We will share videos covering key concepts and perspectives that inform that week’s practice.

  • Practice guides - Each weekly teaching is complemented by recorded practices and written guides on the principles and practices that will support your ongoing application of the learning.

  • Practice groups - We will group you with other participants for smaller group practice during the weekly sessions. These groups will remain consistent for the duration of the program to allow for deepening trust and intimacy. During three integration weeks, you will have an opportunity meet with your integration group independently.

  • Post-program integration - We will host a follow up call after the program has completed to support your integration and application in daily life.

Optional Elements

  • Online community space - We will join each other in an online community where we can continue discussion, sharing, and reflection on the learning. Meet and stay connected with faculty and participants in the program.

  • Additional small-Group integration sessions - In addition to the three integration weeks, Practice groups are invited to meet for one-hour calls to support integration, connection, and reflection on the teaching and practices. Practice groups that do meet share that this really deepens the learning. Many practice groups continue to meet and support each other after the program completes.

  • Additional readings and other learning resources - We will suggest additional resources for those who wish to dive deeper into a particular aspect of the program.

Commitment

Why we don’t INCLUDE RECORDINGS

This program is an intimate, experiential learning journey that requires all of our presence. While recording sessions offers the option to miss a week and catch up, we find this can reduce the depth & effectiveness of the experience. So, unlike many online programs, we ask that you only sign up if you can commit to be present at all the sessions. While we do provide learning videos and other materials, the live sessions are the heart of the experience. We realize that circumstances might arise that make this challenging, but request that you join only if you are excited and able to make this kind of commitment to your learning and being present. If you have to miss a call or two, you are still welcome to continue with the course, however we encourage you to do your best to avoid this if possible.

Sessions

  • Session 1 - Emergence. The deepest change is possible by participating in the inherent novelty available to us at all times. We will engage with learning the capacities and states of being necessary for moving with emergence. This includes exploring how intimacy of subtle consciousness and energy liberates emergence. We will practice awakening to ever-present awareness and our essential wholeness as the ground of emergence. We will explore leadership as emergence and play as a practice for engaging emergence.

  • Session 2 - Embodiment & Relationship. We will work with how our capacity for emergence depends on our ability to be intimate with what is and with each other. This includes exploring connection, safety and embodiment in relationship. Recognizing that the world emerges in a dynamic field of relationship and intra-action, we will practice fostering openness while engaging with intensity.

  • Session 3 - Sense Making. We will explore the evolutionary journey of sense-making, including how we construct our own experience, collectively and individually, and how that evolves over time. We will practice being aware of projecting into the past and into the future and engage multiple ways of knowing individually and collectively. We will examine the world and its emergence beyond our point of view, exploring truthfulness and the essence of our self-hood.

  • Small group integration call.

  • Session 4 - Planetary Consciousness. We will situate our evolution in historic time and planetary space. We will reckon with human history and systems of oppression, seeking to liberate these dynamics personally and collectively. We will engage with the ethical dimensions of perspective taking and practice discovering and living from our deepest and widest care, including becoming conscious of blindspots. And we will endeavor to engage diligence and responsibility for our collective future.

  • Session 5 - Trauma & Shadow. We will engage with what is unconscious including shadow, projection, and introjection. Recognizing that emergence is a movement towards a more whole future we will practice moving from the unconscious to the conscious. We will work on differentiation and integration of the I and We, and differentiation between our essence and our trauma, individually and collectively.

  • Session 6 - Collective Intelligence. We will explore how novelty and wisdom arise in the space between I and We, exploring constructing into form what is emerging. We will practice with paradox and interpenetration, collective shadow and autopoietic patterns, as doorways to collective intelligence. We will create a space for practicing new ways of being and doing, including listening, speaking, and moving from the whole.

  • Small group integration call.

  • Session 7 - Joyfulness. Emergence is grounded in a truthful, joyful relationship to the unfolding present. We will explore how pleasure, joy, and hope are central to the emergence of a more generative future. We will practice releasing fear and shame for our essence. This session will also support integrating the learning, as well as letting it go, playing, expressing gratitude, and completing together.

  • Program integration call.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Who is this for?

This program is for anyone who is interested in the leading edge of transformative change. It is also for those who have engaged in their own personal growth and are interested in how deeper, transpersonal perspectives can be more fully embodied in self, community and work in the world. We also suggest this program as an excellent introduction to the work of the Generating Transformative Change program. If you are considering GTC, Emergent Leadership is an excellent place to start.

What if I am not a leader, not in a leadership role, don’t want to be a leader?

If you shy from the word, ‘leadership’, don’t let that stop you from attending. While we often use the word, 'leadership' to describe our programs, doing so is not without its limitations. Leadership is a word that means different things to different people and can touch on personal experiences that are not always positive. We invite you to consider your own desire to make a difference and to express yourself as an impulse towards a greater world manifest through actions great or small. If you shy from the word, ‘leadership’, don’t let that stop you from attending.

What if I can’t make one of the sessions?

We are asking for a commitment to participate in all of the sessions, however, missing one session is workable.

Will this be above my head? Do I need to be advanced in my practice or growth?

This is designed to support both people who are new to working with awareness practices and also to support a greater depth, embodiment, and presence for those already familiar with what awakened wholeness points to. If you have questions about whether this program is a fit for you, don’t hesitate to be in touch by email us at support@pacificintegral.com.

How is this different FROM GTC?

Emergent Leadership is an excellent introduction to GTC. The GTC program goes into much more depth in a more intimate, longer term setting and expands on the material introduced in Emergent Leadership.

If I have already taken GTC, would I find value in this offering?

Emergent Leadership is a great opportunity to revisit and deepen what you learned in GTC and reconnect with the field of presence, practice, and community. GTC grads who participated spoke of deepening and integrating their learning, and delighting sharing the practices with a global community.
