Experiment 2504: Just Presence
written with the GTC Alumni Community (April 16, 2023)
Experiment
with the liberation
of just being
present, feasting
upon the aliveness
of life’s unfolding.
Warming into ——
embracing,
each moment’s
many distractions,
like a warm spring rain
that moistens
all it touches,
from mammoth maples
to the tiniest of particles,
and our love
for each other.
Shouting forth
in silence
the joy emerging
from our shared
presence, and
enriched by our
shared stillness.
Accept the invitation,
to grow beyond
just being, now,
and lean into
a deeper intimacy
with those voices within
each one of us
too afraid to speak
their beautiful truth.
Listen ———
I want to tell you,
you are seen.
Stay the course:
Life has always
got your back.
Remember that
the beat of
each moment
is infinitely deep,
and matches
your heart’s own
longing to return
to that same
slow emergence.
Thump,
thump,
thump.
Wake up ——
don’t go
back to sleep;
instead, notice
how remaining present
isn’t always angelic, but
also gooey, discombobulating,
and … alive.
Presence, like life
itself emerges and
speaks with many shapes
colours, smells, tastes,
tones, contours,
and also … the non-need
for empty descriptions.
Notice now ——
something is stirring
within the Field
of Awareness,
a vibrancy
that is not
of us, from us,
or through us.
Notice, too,
that we are not
its instruments,
but a willing audience
witnessing a symphony
of notes sounded
in response to
this very moment.
Each note resonating
with its own silent opposite,
waiting expectantly
to be heard, and so
liberated into existence
just like the many jewels
embedded along the edges
of Life’s unique pathway
remain in waiting
to be found.
A pathway
that calls forth
one’s own poetry;
a call to live
with vulnerability,
and honesty,
and a trust in Self
that flows as one,
with the grace
and presence
of All.
Take a breath ——
feel within
your soul,
like I feel within mine,
a Presence that remains
ever-present
reminding each of us
to remember
that we are
always recognised
and loved
unconditionally
within the gentle stillness
of our togetherness.
Thank you.
